What should we bring on our trip?

The weather in Maine, as you probably know, is quite variable all throughout the year. It is important to be prepared for all kinds of weather.  Here is an incomplete list of clothing and gear you may want to bring.

Hat.  Wide brim is best.  The sun can be fierce.

Sunglasses. Wrap around is best

Rain gear. No ponchos, unless you want to launch yourself off the boat!

Comfortable clothes. Stay away from loose clothing that can get caught in winches, lines, etc.

Sweater or fleece jacket.

Swim wear and towel.

Sunscreen. At least SPF 30.  50+ is better

Comfortable, well-fitting rubber-soled shoes that cover the toes. Please stay away from heels and shoes with black soles that leave marks.

We have PFDs (life jackets) but if you are more comfortable with your own, feel free to bring along.

Binoculars.

Personal medications.

Are there age or ability restrictions on your trips?

Generally, we keep an age minimum of 6 on the boat for safety reasons. We welcome people of all abilities on board and will do all that we can to accommodate your needs while keeping everyone safe.

What if there's bad weather on the day of our scheduled trip?

There may be certain weather conditions that will force us to cancel a trip such as storms with high winds in excess of 30 kts, thunderstorms and/or excessive fog.  Trip cancellations will be at the discretion of the captain.  In the event of a trip being cancelled, you will be refunded any deposits or payments made.

Will food be provided?

Lunch will be provided on full day charters.  We are happy to accommodate any dietary restrictions and/or preferences.  We usually like to have lobster rolls and an assortment of fruits/vegetables and snacks available. Non-alcoholic drinks are also provided. For half-day and sunset charters snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided.

What is your alcohol and smoking policy?

Alcoholic beverages are permitted on board but we request that alcohol is only consumed in moderation. We do not offer it for sale.  Smoking/vaping of any substance is not permitted on board.  The use of illicit drugs are also prohibited by USCG regulations.

What if I get seasick?

We generally sail in protected waters and our boat is sea-kindly and sea sickness is rare.  However, sea sickness is not unheard of and if you think that you are prone to "Mal de Mer" you should come prepared with appropriate medications.  These work best if they are administered prior to stepping on board.  Staying hydrated and remaining out in the air also helps.  Talk to the crew.  You don't have to suffer in silence!

What about pets on board?

As much as we love pets, we can't have them on board.

How do I make reservations?

Feel free to contact Captain Craig either by email or phone listed at the bottom of the page.  I'm always happy to answer any questions and help make your sailing trip a great one!
